Border Patrol makes arrest after driver of stolen vehicle leads agents on pursuit

U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested a U.S. citizen after they fled an immigration checkpoint and led law enforcement on a pursuit.

According to the Border Patrol, a vehicle entered the Sierra Blanca checkpoint and during an immigration inspection the driver became uncooperative before fleeing the checkpoint at a high rate of speed.

Border Patrol agents and Texas Department of Public Safety troopers pursed the vehicle until the driver lost control and rolled several times onto the side of the road.

The driver was uninjured in the crash and taken into custody.

The vehicle was determined to be stolen, according to officials.

The Border Patrol said a small amount of marijuana was found in the car and a records check revealed the driver had an extensive criminal history and two active criminal warrants.

The driver, stolen vehicle and marijuana were turned over to DPS.
