The Violent Offender Task Force just nabbed a dangerous felon wanted out of King County. He was spotted by patrol in Smokey Point earlier today and, after a pursuit and foot chase, was captured in the woods near Darrington.
Dangerous felon captured near Darrington after chase, authorities say
DARRINGTON, Wash. – A dangerous felon with a warrant out for his arrest was captured Thursday in a rural area near Darrington after leading police on a pursuit and foot chase, sheriff’s officials said.
The incident unfolded at around 10 a.m. when the suspect, identified as Christopher Dailey, 37, was spotted by a patrol deputy in Smokey Point. according to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.
Dailey then took off in his car, with a female passenger inside, and headed east on State Route 530 with deputies in pursuit, authorities said.
At some point, Dailey ditched his car and fled into the brush on foot.
Several law enforcement agencies then responded to the scene, including additional sheriff’s deputies, the Washington State Patrol, Fish & Wildlife agents, U.S. Forest Service patrol and customs and Border Patrol agents.
After a 2 1/2-hour search, Dailey was tracked down and captured with the assistance of a K-9 dog.
He was taken into custody.
Officials say Dailey was considered armed and dangerous, and was wanted by King County on domestic violence charges.
