Nov. 07–CLAYTON — The St. Louis County police department has completed its internal affairs investigation into whether two officers were chasing a car before it crashed in August, killing the driver and passenger.
Police Chief Jon Belmar is now “conferring with the Board of Police Commissioners” about any resulting action from the investigation, according to a statement from Sgt. Shawn McGuire.
McGuire refused to say whether the two officers in question have been suspended. He said attorneys for the department believe an officer’s duty status and current assignment is a closed personnel record under the state’s Sunshine Law. The department has released officers’ duty status in previous cases involving alleged misconduct.
