AUSTIN, Texas — One of the six assistant Austin police chiefs is among three finalists to serve as chief of the Seattle Police Department, the Seattle Times reported on Friday.
According to the Times, 22-year veteran Ely Reyes began his career in law enforcement with the APD in 1996. Currently, he oversees the North Patrol Bureau and the Communications Center, the information on his LinkedIn confirms.
Reyes is also an Army veteran and a native of Eagle Pass, Texas.
“I am humbled and honored to be announced as a finalist for the Seattle Police Department Chief of Police. I look forward to meeting with Mayor Durkan and community members as I continue in the process,” Reyes tweeted on Friday.
