They may not have been Bonnie and Clyde, but two suspected robbers led police on a chase from the Hollywood area to Orange Thursday where they crashed the vehicle they were fleeing in, police said.
There was no immediate word about any possible relationship between the male and female suspects, and police did not say if either of them were injured in the crash.
Officers spotted the vehicle described in the robberies around 1 a.m. in the area of Sunset Boulevard and Vermont Avenue, where the chase began, according to Sgt. Chris Gomez of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Northeast Division.
The chase lasted about 45 minutes and ended in Orange where the driver crashed into a light pole, Gomez said.
A male suspect fled the vehicle and was arrested a short time later while a female suspect remained inside the vehicle and was taken into custody, Gomez said.
The suspects were wanted in at least four robberies that occurred Wednesday night and early Thursday in the areas of Hollywood, central and northeast Los Angeles, according to Gomez.
Evidence of those robberies was found in the suspects’ vehicle, he said. No further details were immediately available about the robberies, victims or how the crimes took place.
